Several parents of students at Smith Elementary School have contacted our principal to ask that we publish a school newspaper.These parents feel that news about the events at school doesn’t get shared very well.They feel left out and would like to know more about what’s going on at school every day, while they are at work.When they ask their children in the evening about their day, their kids don’t share with them very much information.
The school principal knows that a school newspaper would be a great idea, but all the teachers are too busy teaching and working with children to find the time to write and publish a newspaper.The principal really thinks that the students know more about school news than the teachers may even know, and so, she’s asked for your help to publish a student-written school newspaper.
To publish a school newspaper, you will work in groups.You will need to choose topics for stories about school news, write your newspaper articles with correct mechanics (spelling, punctuation, grammar, and capitalization), print your newspaper, and distribute to readers.
